{"id":1565,"date":"2017-09-13T07:58:01","date_gmt":"2017-09-13T07:58:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.archerphoto.com\/?p=1565"},"modified":"2017-09-13T08:07:09","modified_gmt":"2017-09-13T08:07:09","slug":"guest-post-days-lisbon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvgrkdwu.a2hosted.com\/archerphotopuntocom\/guest-post-days-lisbon\/","title":{"rendered":"Guest post: A few days in Lisbon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p lang=\"es-ES\"><span class=\"notranslate\">A guest post: Nadia Alba writes about Lisbon and I put the photos.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">So we share the work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"es-ES\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"notranslate\">This summer we decided to visit Portugal.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">There are so many beautiful things to see there&#8230; Although in this post I will focus on its most representative neighborhoods.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">Some of our friends had already traveled to the Portuguese capital and they all said that we would love it.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">&#8220;Lisbon is very beautiful and there are great places to eat,&#8221; was the phrase we heard most.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">What they forgot to say is the amount of slopes that it has, as well as the curious pavement floor that characterizes its most emblematic areas, but that shatters anyone&#8217;s feet.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">I have to say it is worth suffering because the place is wonderful.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">Luckily, I checked before I packed my suitcase, and I came to the conclusion that this time my heels had to stay at home.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5873\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5873\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.archerphoto.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_0592-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5873 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.archerphoto.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_0592-small.jpg\" alt=\"Mosaico en Lisboa. After an earthquake devastated the city, the Marquis of Pombal, the prime minister of King Jose I of Portugal, &#8220;the Reformer&#8221;, ordered the reconstruction of the road with the rubble which had left the catastrophe.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">Today you can enjoy the beautiful mosaics that cobblestones form throughout the old part of the capital<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h2 lang=\"es-ES\">La Baixa<\/h2>\n<p lang=\"es-ES\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"notranslate\">Lisbon downtown: commercial area. I<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">t starts at\u00a0<i>Pra\u00e7a dos Restauradores<\/i>\u00a0(\u00a0<i>Restauradores<\/i>\u00a0Square) and ends at the impressive\u00a0<i>Pra\u00e7a do Com\u00e9rcio<\/i>\u00a0(Commerce Square).<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">Here we could contemplate the sunset from the 360\u00ba viewpoint located at the top of the <i>Arco do Triunfo da Rua Augusta\u00a0<\/i>\u00a0(Triumphal Arch of Augusta Street).<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5875\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5875\" style=\"width: 770px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.archerphoto.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_9060-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5875 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.archerphoto.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_9060-small.jpg\" alt=\"Arco do Triunfo da Rua Augusta, por Archerphoto. Archerphoto, fotograf\u00eda empresas y particulares.\" width=\"634\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a>From Santa Justa&#8217;s Elevator.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 lang=\"es-ES\">Chiado and Bairro Alto<\/h2>\n<p lang=\"es-ES\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"notranslate\">Chiado is an elegant and bohemian area.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">Here Portuguese writers of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries met.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">Now it&#8217;s full of well-known brand stores and coffee shops.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">Many of them have preserved the aesthetics of the premises of the early twentieth century, both outside and inside.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">The combination of the new and the traditional is spectacular.<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"es-ES\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><em>Pra\u00e7a Lu\u00eds de Cam\u00f5es<\/em>, one of the stages of the Carnation Revolution, marks the limits of the Chiado and\u00a0<em>Bairro Alto<\/em>\u00a0districts.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5845\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5845\" style=\"width: 533px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.archerphoto.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_9183-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5845 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.archerphoto.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_9183-small.jpg\" alt=\"Pra\u00e7a Lu\u00eds de Cam\u00f5es, Lisboa, Archerphoto, fot\u00f3grafo profesional\" width=\"533\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5845\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pra\u00e7a Lu\u00eds de Cam\u00f5es.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p lang=\"es-ES\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"notranslate\">The\u00a0<em>Bairro Alto<\/em>\u00a0represents the most alternative Lisbon and is located in the highest part of the city.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">If you are brave you can walk up its slopes, or if you prefer, you can take the tram or the elevator.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">Its steep streets full of facades with graffiti are filled with people of all kinds looking for fun at night.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 lang=\"es-ES\"><em>La Alfama<\/em><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"es-ES\">This old quarter of fishermen and cradle of the fado, has a special charm that is perceived when walking through its streets.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"es-ES\">It is located at the foot of\u00a0<em>Castelo de S\u00e3o Jorge<\/em><\/span>\u00a0(<span lang=\"es-ES\">Saint George&#8217;s<\/span>\u00a0<span lang=\"es-ES\">Castle<\/span><span lang=\"es-ES\">)<\/span>\u00a0<span lang=\"es-ES\">and among its<\/span>\u00a0<span lang=\"es-ES\">old houses is<\/span>\u00a0<em><span lang=\"es-ES\">Casa dos Bicos<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<span lang=\"es-ES\">(Beaks House)<\/span><span lang=\"es-ES\">,<\/span>\u00a0<span lang=\"es-ES\">with an original stone fa\u00e7ade in the form of a pyramid, which was built in 1523. Currently<\/span><span lang=\"es-ES\">\u00a0it is housing<\/span>\u00a0<span lang=\"es-ES\">the Jose Saramago&#8217;s foundation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5868\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"notranslate\">In the evening, we took the famous tram 28 from the\u00a0<em>Doctor Ant\u00f3nio de Sousa de Macedo<\/em>\u00a0square, located in the\u00a0<em>Bairro Alto<\/em>, to climb to the neighborhood of Alfama.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">The tram ride is a fun and enjoyable experience in Lisbon.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">It&#8217;s hard to believe that their wooden wagons climb their slopes at the speed they do.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">Sometimes they pass through streets so narrow that if you take your hand out the window you almost touch the wall of the houses.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">The fact is that we did not reach the end of the journey.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">We decided to get off at the\u00a0<i>S\u00e9 de<\/i>\u00a0<i>Lisboa<\/i>\u00a0(Lisboa Cathedral), the capital&#8217;s cathedral and its oldest church.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">It was built in the 12th century and has survived several earthquakes.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">We went back on foot while watching the typical Portuguese restaurants and bars, which offer the best Fado shows.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5867\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5867\" style=\"width: 800px\" justify;\"><em>Bel\u00e9m<\/em><\/h2>\n<p lang=\"es-ES\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"notranslate\">Located west of Lisbon and in front of the Tagus River, it was one of the neighborhoods we liked the most.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">The\u00a0<i>Torre<\/i>\u00a0<i>de Bel\u00e9m<\/i>\u00a0(Bel\u00e9m Tower) and the <em>Mosteiro dos\u00a0Jer\u00f3nimos\u00a0<\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jer%C3%B3nimos_Monastery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>Jeronimos<\/i>\u00a0Monastery<\/a>) stand out.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5849\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5849\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a class=\"notranslate\">Both buildings, dating from the sixteen<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">th century and Manueline Gothic style, are declared World Heritage.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">Seeing them, one wonders why this has not come out in Game of Thrones.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">Undoubtedly precious.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">The cloister of the monastery is possibly the most beautiful of all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5853\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5853\" style=\"width: 533px\" class=\"notranslate\">Back to the center of the city, we visited the\u00a0<i>National<\/i>\u00a0Museum of the Carriages (National Carriage Museum), which seemed as spectacular as the rest of what we had seen in Bel\u00e9m.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">This museum contains one of the most important European collections of royal carriages from the 16th to the 19th centuries and another one of fire engines.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">Nothing that can be seen there, as well as the 18th century palace that houses them, left us indifferent.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure
